The Latin Look Dance Studio was founded in 1992 and continued to grow into a flourishing dance studio. We specialise in competitive Latin American and Ballroom dancing and also quality social dancing.
The Latin Look Dance Studio recieved the award for the most successful competitive studio in Gauteng for many years.
In 2003 Latin American and Ballroom dancing was introduced as a subject in schools. In 2004 we trained four students for grade twelve examinations and they achieved the highest grades in Gauteng that year. In 2008 we had eleven students of whom six were in grade twelve.
Our students are continuously participating in competitions, events and shows. This year one of our Youth couples participated in the television series called ‘Die Laaste Wals’ on Kyknet and received excellent results.
Owner – Sonja Stanford, participated in the first ‘Strictly Come
Dancing’ series in South Africa with James Dalton and the Special Christmas Edition with Marc Lottering in 2006. In her last year of competing, she and her partner, at the time, won the Gauteng Championships and came second at the South African Championships for Professional Ballroom in 2006.
Sonja was also one of the three adjudicators for the show ‘Die Laaste Wals’ in 2009 and 2010.
